(As Prepared for Delivery)
President Chang, Deputy Director General Yang, Commissioner Lee, CEO Song, ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 2018 AIC innovation forum. Time goes by so quickly. Just four years ago, AIT and the Taiwan Design Center (TDC) jointly launched the American Innovation Center (AIC). In four years, the AIC has hosted 470 programs and served over 85,000 visitors with technology-focused programs, including programs about the maker movement, 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality, and entrepreneurship.
Today, former Premier and Taiwan Mobile Foundation President, Simon Chang, will share his vision of how technology and cross-disciplinary thinking can help us solve problems we face.
Also, we are glad to have here Legislator Karen Yu, and four Taiwan female entrepreneurs to share their experiences. Also, we are launching a joint effort to promote women’s entrepreneurship with a new community called #WEStartIt. We encourage all of you to join.
This afternoon, we will examine the impact of new technologies on business and consumers. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to transform society on a scale not seen since the Industrial Revolution. Through the Digital Economy Forum, the U.S. and Taiwan are quickly bringing our economic and social relationship into the digital age. I have every expectation that we will both be at the forefront of AI development.
In short, I hope that today’s forum will inspire you, and create new opportunities for women entrepreneurs. Once again, I wish to thank all of you for attending.
