While the American Innovation Center has postponed all of its public activities to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are pleased to offer a series of virtual programs online. Our first program, “#TheTaiwanModel: When Civic Technology Meets Open Data,” will share Taiwan’s experiences using open data for COVID-19 prevention.
Crises like COVID-19 are when partnerships matter the most. AIT Director Christensen describes the U.S.-Taiwan relationship with the phrase “Real Friends, Real Progress.” The United States and Taiwan will continue to cooperate on fighting COVID-19, including through the research and development of vaccines and other medicines. Taiwan has extensive experience in the prevention of infectious diseases, and its success managing the spread of COVID-19 has been recognized around the world. The United States will also continue to advocate for Taiwan’s greater international participation, particularly to share its impressive global health expertise with the world.
Taiwan Vice President Chen Chien-Jen has praised Digital Minister Audrey Tang for being “not only a key figure in our national disease prevention efforts but also setting an example for the application of artificial intelligence in disease prevention.”
