AIC-Yilan Maker Space

In cooperation with the Yilan County Government and the Taiwan Design Center (TDC), the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) inaugurated the soft launch of the AIC – Yilan Maker Space at the Chung Hsing Cultural and Creative Park, in conjunction with the Taiwan Design Expo from November 21 to December 26. The Maker Space will be officially established in 2016. The AIC – YiLan Maker Space is an extension service for the American Innovation Center (AIC) to promote innovation, digitalization, entrepreneurship, culture and design.

Joseph Bookbinder, Chief of the Public Diplomacy Section for the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), participated in the placement of the plaque for the AIC – Yilan Maker Space and the opening of the American Board Game Exhibition on November 20.

“Built on our successful cooperation with the TDC at the American Innovation Center (AIC), we want to provide more innovative and creative experiences at the AIC – Yilan Maker Space. The establishment of this space marks the beginning of our increased cooperation,” said Bookbinder.

The American Board Game Exhibition, organized by AIT, the National Sun Yat-Sen University, and the TDC, will be on display at the AIC – Yilan Maker Space, with support from the Yilan County Government, Hasbro Taiwan, and Mattel, Inc. The exhibition features American board games that were popular at various times.

American board games have evolved with the history of the United States, from colonial times through the expansion period and the post-war period to modern times. The games also reflect the political, economic, and cultural development of each historical period. The exhibition will allow local audiences to explore American history and culture in a fun way by playing the games. People are welcome to visit the Chung Hsing Cultural and Creative Park to enjoy a cool experience!
