Robert S. Wang, U.S. Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), is scheduled to visit Taiwan from May 11-17, 2015.
During his visit to Taiwan, Dr. Wang will meet with Taiwan officials and business leaders to exchange views on this year’s APEC agenda and other trade and economic matters of mutual concern. On May 12, Wang will deliver the keynote address at the AIT – Bureau of Energy co-hosted “Next Generation Power in Asia” energy conference. This two-day conference on “smart” electrical grids, solar power, and wind power will feature the participation of several dozen energy experts from the United States, Taiwan, and other economies in the region.
Dr. Wang assumed the role of U.S. Senior Official for APEC in August 2013. He is a career Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State. Previously, Dr. Wang was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing from January 2011 to August 2013, and was Deputy Director of the American Institute in Taiwan from August 2006 to September 2009. He was a visiting fellow with the Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) from September 2009 to December 2010.
