The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) cautions U.S. citizens that Tropical Storm Haitang is currently in the waters southwest of Taiwan. Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) expects it to make landfall in southern Taiwan in the late afternoon on Sunday, July 30 and to track northward up the island into the evening. Expect extremely high winds, dangerous storm tides, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding to occur.
All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed. International Community Radio Taipei (ICRT) provides regular weather bulletins in English on 100.7 FM in the Taipei and Kaohsiung areas and on 100.1 FM in Taichung.
