Remarks by AIT Director W. Brent Christensen at Press Conference for Brogent i-Ride
Breeze Center, Nanshan Plaza, Taipei

July 2nd, 2019

Minister Shen, Chairman Chen, Chief Executive Officer Ouyang,

In the spirit of “AIT@40” and our “U.S.-Taiwan Travel Year” campaign, I am pleased to attend this Taiwan premiere of Brogent Technologies’ “Discover America” 5D iRide experience.

As you may have heard, 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of AIT and the Taiwan Relations Act.  Through “AIT@40,” AIT is celebrating the many positive aspects of the U.S.-Taiwan relationship.

As an integral part of this year’s celebration, we have designated 2019 as the “U.S.-Taiwan Travel Year,” with the goal of increasing two-way travel between the United States and Taiwan.

AIT is delighted that Brogent participated in both the 2018 and 2019 SelectUSA Investment Summits in Washington D.C.  For the second year in a row, Taiwan’s 111-member delegation was the largest of over seventy economies at the Summit, highlighting the close links between the economies of the United States and Taiwan.

I would like to congratulate Brogent on their new multi-million-dollar investments to construct an iRide Experience Center at their flagship location in Times Square, New York City, and another facility planned for Waikiki, Hawaii. Both of these locations are great places to be discovered by visitors to the United States.

So, thank you, Brogent, for investing in the United States and promoting the beauty of America with this new iRide.   I believe collaborative efforts such as this will further strengthen our economic and people-to-people ties, as we take another step forward together in the U.S.-Taiwan relationship.

Thank you very much.
