Mason Yu assumes the position of AIT’s Kaohsiung Branch Office Chief

Mason Yu assumed the position of Branch Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan’s (AIT’s) Kaohsiung Branch Office in August 2020.

Mr. Yu joined the U.S. Department of State in 2001 and most recently served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Administration. Domestically, he also served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings and Operations (OBO), as Management Officer in OBO’s Long-Range Planning Division, and as Management Officer in the Executive Office of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Overseas, Mr. Yu served as Management Officer at the US Consulate General in Chengdu and at the U.S. Consulate General in Dhahran. He performed both consular and economic reporting duties as Deputy Branch Chief at the Kaohsiung Branch Office of the American Institute in Taiwan and at the US Consulate in Shanghai. Mr. Yu’s first overseas assignment was as General Services Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore.

A native of Seattle, Washington, Mr. Yu graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mass Communications and earned a Master of Military Studies from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He is married and has one small child.
