The American Institute in Taiwan, in cooperation with the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission and the National Taichung Library, is pleased to announce the Taichung opening of the “Immigrants Building America” exhibition. Because so many people of different nationalities and ethnic groups have contributed to the growth of America, the United States of America is often called a melting pot. This exhibit tells moving and inspiring stories of people journeying to a new country, struggling to establish themselves, and contributing their intelligence and hard work to create the vibrant America that we know today.
“Immigrants Building America” tells the other side of the story of AIT’s previous exhibit, “American Footsteps in Taiwan.” Whereas “American Footsteps in Taiwan” talked about the American contribution to the development of Taiwan, “Immigrants Building America” shows how immigrants from Taiwan and China have contributed to the growth of the United States.
