Event: As of March 26, the Taiwan Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has confirmed 252 cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan.
Latest updates from CECC: On March 25, the CECC recommended that indoor events attended by more than 100 people and outdoor gatherings attended by more than 500 people be suspended, in order to prevent cluster infections. The Department of State has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory for COVID-19. U.S. citizens who are considering returning to the United States are urged to work with their airlines to make travel arrangements while flights are still available. Some direct flights between the United States and Taiwan have been cancelled. Your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite timeframe.
Taiwan has barred admission to all foreign travelers except for those who hold an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) or documents proving they are in Taiwan for diplomatic or other official purpose or to fulfill business contacts, and those who have received special permits. Any travelers arriving from outside Taiwan and granted entry are subject to a 14-day home quarantine.
Travelers are not allowed to transit through Taiwan from March 24 to April 7 in order to prevent cross-border transmission risks.
All travelers who entered Taiwan on or before March 21, 2020, on a visitor visa, a landing visa, or through a visa-waiver program and who have not overstayed their legal stay period will be granted an automatic 30-day extension. No application is required. See more information here.
