The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) cautions U.S. citizens that Category 4 Typhoon Napartak is currently in the western Pacific Ocean southeast of Taiwan. Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) projects this storm will make landfall in northeast Taiwan late afternoon on Thursday. Expect extremely high winds, dangerous storm tides, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding to occur.
All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed. International Community Radio Taipei (ICRT) provides regular weather bulletins in English on 100.7 FM in the Taipei and Kaohsiung areas and on 100.1 FM in Taichung.
