The American Institute in Taiwan is honored to invite Dr. Michael Lestz, Chair of the History Department at Trinity College, as the keynote speaker at the workshop “Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States” at the Chung Shan Hall of the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Monday, July 25, 2011.
We have also invited Dr. Huang Ko-wu, Director of Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Dr. Lu Fang-shang, Director of Academia Historica, Dr. Shaw Yu-ming, Chairman of Coordination Council for North American Affairs Headquarters for Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States, Dr. Peter Zarrow, Research Fellow of Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica , Dr. Chang Li, Research Fellow of Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, and Dr. Pan Kwang-che, Associate Research Fellow of Institute of Modern History, to share their insights in the workshop.
The workshop, held on the side of the “Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States” exhibit, will elaborate on Dr. Sun’s years in Hawaii and the continental United States and demonstrate the strong bonds between Dr. Sun, the great leader of modern China and the United States. The workshop will also discuss the background of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and foreign influences on the Doctrine of People’s Livelihood, and provide historical perspective on the evolution of the Republic of China.
