The American Institute in Taiwan is pleased to announce that the world-renowned Mark Morris Dance Group will visit Taiwan from November 1 to 6, 2014, as part of the U.S. Department of State’s DanceMotion USA program. This is the first time Taiwan has been included in this program, and AIT is the key host of the company’s tour in Taiwan.

While in Taiwan, the Mark Morris Dance Group will present two free public events — Let’s Move Taipei and Let’s Move Yilan — the general public is invited to dance, exercise, and move their bodies with music under the guidance of the Mark Morris Dance Group. The Mark Morris Dance Group will also conduct workshops and master classes and interact with local artists, NGOs, and aboriginal children.

DanceMotion USA is a cross-cultural exchange program launched in 2010 that connects America’s finest dance companies with international artists and communities. DanceMotion USA is made possible by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is produced in partnership with the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).

Founded in New York City in 1980 by artistic director and choreographer Mark Morris, the Mark Morris Dance Group has inspired audiences and received international recognition as one of the world’s leading dance companies.
