Call between Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo and Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua

Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo held an introductory call with the Taiwan Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua.

During the meeting, Secretary Raimondo and Minister Wang discussed the importance of the U.S.-Taiwan commercial and investment relationship and agreed to cooperate through a new Technology Trade and Investment Collaboration (TTIC) framework.  The TTIC seeks to develop U.S.-Taiwan commercial programs and explore actions to strengthen critical supply chains, in areas such as semiconductors, and to promote two-way trade and investment. The TTIC framework will also support action focused on the U.S. and Taiwan investment environment, industry trends, and new opportunities while concurrently promoting two-way trade and investment.

In their discussion, Secretary Raimondo and Minister Wang also agreed to designate appropriate representatives to continue and plan for upcoming engagements on critical supply chains and other issues of interest to both the United States and Taiwan.
