The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is pleased to announce that it has selected the new landmark China Steel Building as the site for the relocated AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office. AIT Director William A. Stanton and China Steel Corporation Chairman J. C. Tsou jointly convened a press conference on June 29 to make the announcement.
In 1979, the Kaohsiung Branch Office of AIT was established to maintain a close relationship and to demonstrate the U.S. continuing commitment to the people of southern Taiwan. The AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office has been in its current office located at Chung Cheng 3rd Road since 1986 and its staff has doubled in size. In order to meet the expanded requirements of the AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office and to insure that the office is positioned to maintain vibrant ties with southern Taiwan, AIT will move its Kaohsiung Branch Office into the China Steel Building, which is an architectural showpiece and has already become a prominent part of Kaohsiung’s skyline.
AIT’s major relocation project demonstrates the United States’ deep commitment to southern Taiwan. AIT looks forward to continuing its close relationship with the city of Kaohsiung and its new landlord, China Steel Corporation.
