American Institute in Taiwan Thanks Departing TECRO Representative, Stanley Kao;
Welcomes Hsiao Bi-Khim

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) would like to thank departing Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) Representative Stanley Kao for his many contributions to the partnership between the United States and Taiwan.  Representative Kao’s long experience working with U.S. institutions helped drive a number of important achievements that have brought the United States and Taiwan closer together.  From successful transits by President Tsai to historic agreements to sell tanks and F-16v’s to Taiwan, together we have advanced Taiwan’s international standing and ability to defend itself.  Under Mr. Kao’s leadership, TECRO worked to expand Taiwan’s diplomatic participation through opportunities to partner on development goals, fought to have Taiwan’s strong record on public health elevated by participation in the World Health Assembly and in technical meetings of the WHO, and generously donated much-needed PPE to frontline medical workers across the United States.

AIT congratulates and welcomes incoming Representative Hsiao Bi-Khim, appointed by President Tsai to lead TECRO during her second term.  Ms. Hsiao has a strong record of advancing U.S.-Taiwan relations and will be the first woman to hold this critical role.  During her tenure in the Legislative Yuan, Ms. Hsiao worked successfully with her bipartisan colleagues and with AIT to make progress on many aspects of the U.S.-Taiwan partnership, including our security cooperation, economic and commercial ties, and joint efforts to share Taiwan’s democratic success story with the world.  We are confident that the U.S.-Taiwan friendship will continue to flourish during her tenure.
