The American Chamber of Commerce in Kaohsiung (AmCham Kaohsiung) will host the inaugural Ying Chun Yan business dinner on Thursday, April 15, 6:00 p.m., at Kaohsiung City’s Grand Hi-Lai Hotel. The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Kaohsiung Branch Office and the Kaohsiung Lighthouse Rotary Club are co-organizers of the event.
During the Ying Chun Yan event, AmCham Kaohsiung will unveil its first Southern Taiwan White Paper, which provides private sector recommendations on economic development in light of December’s Kaohsiung City/County merger. Also, the Kaohsiung Lighthouse Rotary Club along with AmCham Kaohsiung will make a joint charity announcement to benefit Taiwan’s Eden Foundation. Lastly, AIT will award its 3rd Annual Taiwan Importer of the Year.
AIT Director William A. Stanton will deliver the keynote address. Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chu, Kaohsiung County Magistrate Yang Chiu-Hsing, and Executive Yuan Southern Branch CEO Lo Shih-Hsiung will follow with their responses to the Southern Taiwan White Paper. “AmCham Kaohsiung’s White Paper and the Ying Chun Yan banquet will be a new annual tradition for southern Taiwan, recognizing the importance of strengthening southern Taiwan’s international business environment and promoting its prosperity,” said AIT Kaohsiung Branch Chief Christian Castro.
AIT established the Importer of the Year award in 2007 to recognize Taiwan companies dedicated to importing American technology to Taiwan. This year’s winner is Kaohsiung City-based Berlin Company, a long-standing importer of high-performance American paint, coatings and sealants.
Media representatives are invited to attend the Ying Chun Yan kick-off press conference on Thursday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m., on the ninth floor of the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel, just prior to the dinner. The speakers will be AmCham Kaohsiung President Brian Aiello, AIT Kaohsiung Commercial Officer Steve Green and Kaohsiung Lighthouse Rotary Club President David Huang. Remarks will be in English with consecutive interpretation into Chinese.
