America Day: Home Run!

AIT is pleased to announce a very special celebration of the United States’ 244th Independence Day.  On Saturday, July 4, 2020, AIT will be hosting “America Day: Home Run!” at Tainan Municipal Baseball Stadium during a game between the Uni Lions and the CTBC Brothers.  This event will take the place of our annual reception, and will include a ceremony, special guests, and gifts for select fans in attendance at the game.

In addition to the many shared values that form the foundation of the U.S.-Taiwan friendship, our shared love of baseball has also been a historic source of connection.  After being invented in the United States in the 19th century, baseball has been embraced by communities around the world, and Taiwan has produced some of baseball’s most talented players and passionate fans.

In the context of COVID-19, it has been Taiwan’s turn to share baseball with the United States.  Americans continue to face the impacts of COVID-19, among them the suspension of professional sports.  Thanks to the Taiwan Model for COVID-19 prevention, the CPBL has been one of the only professional baseball leagues in the world in operation, providing fans around the globe – particularly in the United States – baseball to lift their spirits during this difficult time.

AIT looks forward to celebrating our Independence Day with the fans attending the July 4 game, our special guests, and the fans watching at home.  For the next two weeks, AIT will share posts on Facebook and Instagram with more information about the history of U.S.-Taiwan baseball and sports ties; additional details about our upcoming event; and chances to win tickets and other commemorative gifts.

Media access for this event is by invitation only.
