AIT to Co-host the 1st Annual Talent Circulation Summit
The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), in cooperation with the Industrial Development Bureau and the Association for Talent Development, will co-host the 1st Annual Talent Circulation Summit on November 5 at the new Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Talent Circulation Summit will bring together global leaders in the public and private sector around a single theme: How to internationalize Taiwan’s work force for the digital age. The event is free of charge, and open to the general public. We encourage everyone to come discover the latest international talent exchange and training opportunities. We expect close to 1,000 young professionals, human resources officers, business executives, academics, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and students to attend this first of its kind event.
At the Summit, participants can hear titans of industry, such as TSMC Founder Morris Chang, tell their own talent circulation story; learn from some of the world’s top experts on work force development in the digital era; and find out about the wide variety of international academic and professional exchange opportunities created by like-minded partner governments around the world as well as those created by the Taiwan Authorities.
Much of Taiwan’s industry was established by people who studied or worked in the United States, and then came back to found or work at Taiwan’s most successful companies. A large share of Taiwan’s most successful individuals in government, academia, and civil society owe their success in large part to the experiences they gained abroad. Through the Talent Circulation Alliance, we seek to recreate this story for the digital age. Likewise, talent from all over the world coming to Taiwan helps forge close ties between Taiwan and like-minded partners and bring valuable skills to help address Taiwan’s talent shortage. Economies such as Singapore and Dubai have embraced international talent circulation as core of their economic strategy. Now Taiwan is on the cusp of doing the same. Through such two-way exchange, Taiwan can ensure its future remains firmly anchored in the free and open Indo-Pacific.
Since its launch earlier this year, AIT has forged active partnerships with the Ministry of
Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the National Development Council, the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Taiwan Fulbright, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, AmCham, other foreign missions and chambers, philanthropic foundations, civil society, and the private sector. The TCA is fast becoming a flagship cooperation effort between the United States and Taiwan. The Talent Circulation Summit will bring together all of the TCA’s stakeholders to help make talent circulation and talent cultivation the heart of Taiwan’s economic strategy; the core of the private sector’s talent development strategies; and the beginning, middle, and end of an individual’s career path.
The Talent Circulation Alliance (TCA) is a public-private partnership that facilitates the circulation of talent between Taiwan and like-minded partners, with the goal of cultivating a deep pool of capable, internationally-integrated, and digitally savvy professionals. It was founded as a partnership between AIT and the Taiwan Authorities, including the Ministry of Economic Affairs Industrial Development Bureau, and is implemented by the Institute for the Information Industry.
