AIT Taipei Office to Close August 7 Due to Typhoon

PR-0936E | Due to typhoon Morakot, the Taipei office of the American Institute in Taiwan will be closed on Friday, August 7.   This includes the Consular Section, the Commercial Section, the Agricultural Trade Office, and the American Cultural Center

All U.S. citizens resident in or visiting Taiwan are urged to monitor local news for the latest safety and weather information. In the event of an emergency, U.S. citizens should call AIT’s Taipei office at 02-2162-2319.  For the AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office please call at 07-238-7744 or FAX: 07-238-5237.

Rescheduling American Citizen Services Appointments

Individuals who had American Citizen Services (Taipei office) appointments scheduled for this day are encouraged to reschedule their appointments online by visiting the American Institute in Taiwan’s website at http://www.ait.org.tw/zh/uscitizens/.

If you had an interview appointment scheduled for August 7and have proof of travel within two weeks, you may come to AIT during our regular business hours on August 10 or August 11.  However, you should expect delays.

Rescheduling Immigrant Visa Appointments

Individuals who had immigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for August 7 should contact AIT’s Immigrant Visa Unit via fax at 02-2162-2253 or e-mail at visaiv-ait@state.gov to reschedule appointments.

Rescheduling Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Appointments

Individuals who had nonimmigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for August 7 are encouraged to reschedule their appointments by visiting the Application Processing Center’s web site at http://www.visaagent.com.tw.

If you had an interview appointment scheduled for August 7and proof of travel before August 14, you may come to AIT during our regular business hours on August 10 or August 11.  However, you should expect delays.
