AIT Director William A. Stanton will present the Importer of the Year Award to Kaohsiung-based Pro Medical, a long-time importer of American-manufactured rehabilitation equipment that assists those in need of physical and occupational therapy to regain their health, independence and quality of life. The award was established by the American Institute in Taiwan in 2007 to recognize Taiwan companies dedicated to importing American technology to Taiwan. The award will be presented at the American Chamber of Commerce Kaohsiung 2nd annual Ying Chun Yan business dinner on Thursday, March 17.

In addition to presenting the award, Director Stanton and Taiwan Premiere Wu Den-yih will deliver the keynote speeches at the event which will also feature the presentation of AmCham Kaohsiung’s Southern Taiwan White Paper. The White Paper will provide private sector recommendations on economic development in light of the Kaohsiung City/County merger last December as well as recommendations to cover the spectrum of priority issues in Greater Kaohsiung, including planning for traffic control and increased power needs of infrastructure projects to be constructed along the waterfront, promoting tourism, and attracting foreign investment. In addition to the presentation of the award and the AmCham White Paper, Kaohsiung American School will announce a charity donation to benefit Taiwan’s Garden of Hope Foundation.

“The Ying Chun Banquet with the Importer of the Year Award and the presentation of the AmCham White Paper are excellent traditions which recognize the importance of strengthening southern Taiwan’s international business environment and promoting prosperity,” said AIT Kaohsiung Branch Chief Chris Castro.
