All offices of the American Institute in Taiwan will be closed Wednesday, December 5, 2018, to honor the memory of former U.S. President George H. W. Bush. This includes the Consular Section, the Agricultural Trade Office, the American Center, the Commercial Section, and the AIT Kaohsiung branch office. AIT will re-open at the usual time on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
President Donald Trump issued an Executive Order December 3 to close Federal offices and excuse all Federal employees from duty for the scheduled workday on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, as a mark of respect for George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. George H. W. Bush passed away November 30, 2018.
Rescheduling Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Appointments
Individuals who had nonimmigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for this day will be re-scheduled to the same time on Friday, December 7. Please come to AIT Taipei’s office on Xinyi Road at your scheduled time on December 7 for your interview. In order to facilitate your entrance to the waiting room, please present a copy of your email confirmation to our staff at the Consular Entrance.
Rescheduling Immigrant Visa Interview Appointments
Individuals who had immigrant interview appointments scheduled for the afternoon of December 5 will be contacted individually with rescheduling information. Please come to AIT’s location on Xinyi Road at your rescheduled date and time. In order to facilitate your entrance to the waiting room, please present a copy of your email confirmation to our staff at the Consular Entrance.
Rescheduling American Citizen Services Appointments
If you had a December 5 appointment for American Citizen Services, your appointment will be rescheduled to Friday, December 7, 2018, at the same time as your appointment time on Wednesday.
If you are not able to come on Friday, December 7, 2018, please use our online appointment system system to reschedule your previously scheduled appointment.
Rescheduling Global Entry Interviews
For Global Entry applicants who have scheduled interviews at AIT on Wednesday, December 5, AIT staff will be contacting you by phone and e-mail to reschedule your interview.
