The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is saddened to note the passing of Nora Sun, a former U.S. diplomat, on January 29, 2011 in Taipei.
Born in 1938 in Shanghai, Ms. Sun was the granddaughter of Republic of China Founder Sun Yat-sen. She began her career with U.S. Foreign Commercial Service in 1986, and served as Commercial Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou and Shanghai from 1986-1992. She was the Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Paris from 1992-1994. Ms. Sun later started her own company in Hong Kong.
The American Institute in Taiwan mourns her passing and extends its condolences to her family.
