Mr. Joseph R. Donovan, Jr., the Managing Director of the Washington Office of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), is scheduled to visit Taiwan from April 10-16, 2016.
During his visit to Taiwan, Mr. Donovan will meet with Taiwan officials and other leaders to exchange views on subjects of mutual interest to both the United States and Taiwan.
Mr. Donovan became the Managing Director of AIT’s Washington Office in January of 2014. Mr. Donovan was previously the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He has also served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor, Mr. Donovan’s overseas assignments include postings in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Qatar, in addition to three assignments at the American Institute in Taiwan. Mr. Donovan has a Master’s Degree in National Security Affairs from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Following his graduation from Georgetown, he spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Korea.
