AIT Deputy Director Raymond Greene’s departure from AIT and
the appointment of Jeremy Cornforth as the AIT Deputy Director Designate
The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Deputy Director Raymond Greene has departed AIT after completing his three-year tenure. During his time at AIT, Deputy Greene oversaw many significant achievements, including the move of AIT to its New Office Compound in Neihu, the expansion of the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF), and the creation of the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative. He will take up his next position as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo on July 17. All of AIT bids Deputy Director Greene a very fond farewell and we all wish him well in Tokyo.
AIT is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Jeremy Cornforth as the new AIT Deputy Director, succeeding Mr. Greene beginning in late July 2021.
Cornforth is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service who will be Deputy Director of the American Institute in Taiwan starting in July 2021. He most recently served as Chief of the Consular Section at the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1998, he has also served overseas as a consular and political officer in Jerusalem, Israel; Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic; Mumbai, India; Tunis, Tunisia; and Beirut, Lebanon. Domestically, he served as the El Salvador desk officer in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and as the Director of the Office of Information Management and Liaison in the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ Office of Visa Affairs. Jeremy graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and subsequently earned a Masters of Science in Strategic Studies from the National War College. He speaks Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, and Hebrew. His wife Eleanor is a director at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, and he has twin nine-year-old children.
