AIT Deputy Director Jeremy Cornforth’s Arrival in Taiwan
Mr. Jeremy Cornforth arrived in Taiwan on July 19 to take up the position as Deputy Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). After following the regulations of the Taiwan Central Epidemic Command Center’s COVID-19 Prevention Program, including going through a fourteen-day quarantine and seven days of self-health management, Deputy Director Cornforth will be ready to report for duty.
Mr. Cornforth is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and most recently served as Chief of the Consular Section at the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou, China. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1998, he has also served overseas as a consular and political officer in Jerusalem, Israel; Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic; Mumbai, India; Tunis, Tunisia; and Beirut, Lebanon. In Washington, he served in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
He looks forward to joining AIT, to continue strengthening the U.S.-Taiwan relationship, to expanding his understanding about the people and
culture of Taiwan, and to exploring the natural beauty of the island.
