The American Institute in Taiwan will celebrate the 15th Annual International Education Week from November 17-21, 2014. International Education Week is an annual joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. This event promotes the importance of building an international dimension into the education of young people around the world and recognizes the value of international educational exchange in developing mutual understanding and respect by encouraging future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.
This year’s theme is “International Education is for Everyone.” International education develops relationships between people and communities in the United States and around the world that are necessary to solve global challenges. We actively engage in education diplomacy with our Taiwan partners, and work with students and educators to become globally competent and successful through international engagement.
Education is an important link between the United States and Taiwan. Taiwan is among the top ten senders of international students to the United States. AIT works closely and collaboratively with the U.S. State Department-affiliated EducationUSA center in Taiwan located at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (FSE) (www.educationusa.tw). This center offers accurate, comprehensive, and current information about educational opportunities in the United States, and provides guidance on how to access those opportunities.
2014 AIT International Education Week activities include:
