Senior-level leaders from premier harbor cities around the world are gathering in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from August 14-15 for the 2015 International Harbor Cities Conference. The American Institute in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Branch Office is pleased to co-sponsor this event with the city of Kaohsiung. Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Kelli Bernard will participate in the 2015 International Harbor Cities Conference.
Hosted by Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu, this groundbreaking event will grant city leaders an opportunity to share their experiences in managing issues unique to harbor cities, helping them transform to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century. The conference will cover issues such as mixed-use land development, public-private partnerships, urban renewal, waterfront development, transportation, and tourism.
During the conference, city leaders will discuss how harbors can support urban development through proven methods of urban planning and strategic economic investment. The event also aims at connecting harbor cities in order to bolster their competitiveness in the international community.
