2020 NASA Hackathon: Let’s go to the moon together during Mid-Autumn Festival!

AIT is partnering with the National Space Organization, the Taipei City Government, National Taiwan University, Jothon Online and the American Innovation Center to host the ninth annual 2020 NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon in Taiwan. Around the world, more than 200 cities and tens of thousands of creative problem solvers will participate in this international event. This year’s NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon in Taipei will be hosted from Oct 2 to 4 and will held virtually across the globe. The event is now open for registration!

“This hackathon is one of NASA’s most innovative outreach activities. 2020’s theme is “Take Action.” We hope participants can use NASA’s open data to increase our understanding of the universe and develop meaningful and feasible solutions that solve today’s challenges for sustainable development,” said Luke Martin, AIT’s cultural affairs officer, in a news conference on September 10.

Since its founding, the NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon has been committed to the spirit of “diversity” and “inclusion.” The hackathon provides an opportunity for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, technologists, and enthusiasts to develop creative solutions that address challenges we face on Earth and beyond.

In addition to the co-sponsors, Taipei’s 2020 NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon partners include the Foundation for Women’s Rights Promotion and Development, MediaTek, Department of Design, Taiwan Tech University of Science & Technology, Microsoft Taiwan, iThome, and g0v Jothon.
