The American Institute in Taiwan, in partnership with the CTCI Foundation and the U.S. Company, AECOM, is organizing two events entitled “The 2012 US-Taiwan International Seminar on Sustainability Development” on March 14 at Kaohsiung’s Software Park and on March 16 at National Taiwan University Hospital’s International Conference Room. Focusing on the Low Carbon Economy and Sustainable Development, these seminars will attract high level government officers, industry experts, and academic scholars to share their perspectives, knowledge, and expertise by making key note speeches and professional presentations.
Acting Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Eric Madison will make opening remarks at the Taipei seminar on March 16, and AIT Branch Chief Gary Oba will kick-off the event in Kaohsiung on March 14. Executive Yuan Minister without Portfolio Mr. Yang Chiu-Hsing will deliver the keynote speech at the March 14 Kaohsiung event on the topic of “Landscape Planning and Disaster Prevention.” Taiwan Research Institute Vice President Mr. Huang Chung-Huang will deliver the keynote speech at the March 16 Taipei seminar on “Incentive Mechanism and Financing Plans of Low-Carbon Sustainable Development.”
AECOM’s Chief Sustainability Officer Mr. Gary Lawrence will share his global perspective on strategic and sustainable development with the participants at both seminars. During individual presentation sessions of Low Carbon City (Industry Zones) Planning, Water Resource Management, Climate Change Adaptation Fund, and Urban Regeneration, Taiwan’s government officers and AECOM’s industry experts will present the current status of government policies, technologies, and approaches adopted by Taiwan, United States, and other players around the world.
